Speakers at a roundtable here yesterday urged the ministries concerned to work in a coordinated way to check human trafficking, reports UNB. They came up with the call at a roundtable, titled ‘Human Trafficking - Bangladesh Preparedness’, organised by Centre for Non-Resident Bangladeshis (CNRB) at the National Press Club. Chaired by CNRB chairman SM Shekil Chowdhury, the roundtable was also addressed by Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) director (investigations) Nur Khan, and Refugee and Migratory Movements Research Unit (RMMRU) chairman Prof Tasneem Siddique. Speaking on the occasion, ASK director Nur Khan said the ministries of Home, Law, Expatriate Welfare and Foreign Affairs failed to put forth a coordinated action programme against human trafficking. He also alleged that local leaders, public representatives and ruling party activists are also involved in human trafficking.
