BCB prioritises Aaqib as new fast bowling coach

Former Pakistan fast bowler Aaqib Javed topped the list of Bangladesh’s fast bowling coach, a post which remained vacant following Heath Streak’s reluctance to continue with Mashrafe and his teams.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) however hoped to get his opinion about the role within a couple of days, revealed its president Nazmul Hossain Papon.
“We have contacted Aaqib Javed. By day after tomorrow we will get a decision, be it a yes or no,” he disclosed. “And then we decided an alternate list as well so that we can contact them as well.”
Papon said at the same time they are looking for a spin-bowling coach in a bid to hone the skill of the spinners.
The BCB chief meanwhile reiterated his stance about pace bowling sensation Mustafizur Rahman, stating his English County stint with Sussex would be subjected on his fitness.
Mustafizur was assessed by the physio and BCB medical team after he returned to the country following the Indian Premier League (IPL) which kept him away from the home for 55 days.
“If Mustafizur plays the County cricket it will be good for us and him. But the first thing is that his fitness. As per the reports that we have gotten now, his physical condition is not that good. So we won’t take much risk. But if we see he is fit he may go to play.”
Coach Chandika Hathurusingha had already revealed that he wants Mustafizur to gain the County experience if he is fit enough to play.
“We’ll see him at least two weeks. He is in rest now. He will return to Dhaka after four five days and after that there will be more assessment and then he will go through to a test,” Papon said what indicated that his County stint is bleak for the time being.
Mustafizur is in Satkhira now to spend time with his family albeit the crazy fans remain reluctant to give him any respite.
