A faction of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) Barisal district and city unit blocked city roads for two hours yesterday protesting killing of local BCL leader of Barisal Polytechnic Institute Rezaul Karim and demanded arrest of the killers.
Rezaul Islam, a former student of Barisal Polytechnic Institute, was hacked to death by some unidentified miscreants on May 27 night in the Institute gate area. Four others were also injured during the attack. Police suspected that the incident might be occurred over establishing supremacy on the campus.
Rezaul Hasan, elder brother of victim BCL leader Reza, was filed a murder case in this connection against 14 people, including BCL city unit president Jashim Uddin Zashim.
Rafiqul Islam Khokon, spokesman of the BCL faction group, said police are yet to arrest the two killers of Reza. They alleged that police did not take any steps to arrest the killers. Protesting the police act, BCL Barisal city and district unit jointly called the highway blocked programme from 11am to 1pm yesterday.
