Train services with Dhaka, Ctg resumes
Train communications of Sylhet with Dhaka and Chittagong were restored yesterday after eight hours of disruption following subsidence of a rail bridge under pressure of hill water at Rankichor in Srimangal upazila early in the morning.
Engineer of Srimangal Railway Station Ali Azam said train service on the routes came to a halt following subsidence of the rail bridge around 4am.  Consequently, ‘Upaban Express’ train coming from Dhaka and ‘Udayan Express’ train from Chittagong remained stranded at Srimangal and Shayestaganj railways stations respectively, Azam added. Later, the train service was resumed around 12pm after the employees of the railway repaired the bridge.

Navy contingent leaves for South Sudan
The 93-member first contingent of Bangladesh Navy left Dhaka on Friday for South Sudan to join its Force Marine Unit-2 in the United Nations (UN) Peacekeeping Mission.
The unit of Bangladesh Navy has been playing an important role in keeping active the UN supply system on the waterways of South Sudan since 2015, a press release of ISPR said. Besides, it provides security and health services to local civilians. On June 28 next, the second contingent of the Navy comprising 107 personnel will leave Dhaka for South Sudan.

Gazipur garments factory catches fire
A fire broke out in a garments factory at Chandara in Gazipur on Saturday noon.
Station officer of Kaliakoir Fire Service Apurba Bal said the fire broke out at the factory of Nur Group in the area around 12 noon. On information, four fire-fighting units rushed in and brought the blaze under control. The reason behind the fire could not be known immediately.

One held with 2,000 pieces of yaba tablets
Chittagong Metropolitan Police in a raid arrested a woman with 2,000 pieces of yaba tablets from Chittagong city’s Alankar crossing area under Pahartali thana at 10 on Friday morning. A petrol team of Pahartali thana police, on secret information, halt a woman and seized the yaba tablets from her possession. A case was filed with Pahartali thana.

‘Dristi’ holds fruit festival at TSC
Cultural organisation ‘Dristi’ on Friday staged its 23rd fruit festival with the exhibition of over 50 seasonal local varieties at Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) on Dhaka University campus. Jatiya Sangsad (JS) deputy speaker Mohammad Fazle Rabbi Miah joined the festival as chief guest while Local Government Division secretary Abdul Malek, Shishu Academy chairman and noted novelist Selina Hossain, Swadhin Bangla Betar singer Bulbul Mahlanbis and Gyan O Srijanshil Prakashak Samity president Osman Goni, among others, were present.
