Teachers and students of English department of Rajshahi University have resumed their protest programme yesterday after summer vacation demanding proper investigation and justice for the murder of Prof Rezaul Karim Siddique.
A protest procession was brought out at around 11am from in front of Shahidullah Kola Bhaban that encompassed the campus. After the rally the teachers and the students organised a meeting at Mukul Mancha, a makeshift platform set up after the of the slain professor
The Rajshahi University Teachers' Association would form human chain programme in protest of the killing in front of Senate Bhaban from 10am to 11am, Professor Md Sakhawat Hossain, assistant professor of English Department, told The Independent.
“Our academic works are lagging behind. For now we (English Department) are planning to hold protest programmes every week,” Sakhawat Hossain said.
On April 23, Prof Siddiquee was hacked to death while on his way to the university.
