Criminals destroyed two banana plantations in Hinganagar village in Delduwar upazila of Tangail over the past days. The criminals looted bananas worth about Tk 6 lakh during the time. Faisal Mia, 42, of village Hinganagar, said there has been a conflict between the villagers of Hinganagor and Gojariabari over possession of land of a mosque situated in Hinganagar. The villagers of Hinganagar had been enjoying the earnings from the land. On May 21, the people of Gojariabari made in an attempt to take the possession of the land and wanted to harvest the paddy there. When the people of Hinganagar tried to foil their attempt, a clash was erupted leaving one Mosharraf of Gojariabari dead and many others on both sides injured. A case was lodged accusing 39 people of Hinganagar. Following the legal move male members of the families of the village fled their homes for fear of arrest.
However, some criminals on Thursday cut down bananas of the orchard on 33 decimals, owned by one Wazed Mia of Hinganagar.
There were 600 bananas of sobri variety. They also destroyed banana orchard on 10 decimals of land of Putni Begum, a widow, on Friday night.
IO of the case SI Mosarraf Hossain said police will take proper action against the offenders. The situation is returning to normalcy.
