Seminar on governance in Bangladesh today
A seminar titled ‘Governance in Bangladesh and non state actors’ will be held today on Jahangirnagar University campus. Professor Nasim Akter Hossain of government and politics department also the convener of the seminar disclosed this at a press conference on Thursday at the seminar room of her respective department around 4pm. JU government and politics department of the university will organised the seminar. Farzana Islam, vice-chancellor of JU, will inaugurate the seminar as chief guest at university senate hall around 9:30 am while pro-VC Prof Abul Hossain and Amir Hossain, dean of JU social science faculty will attend as the special guest.
Badiul Alam Majumdar, secretary of SHUJAN, Prof Sadek Halim, Sayed Abul Maksud and Mizanur Rahman Khan will attend as guest speakers while Associate Professor Bashir Ahmed, chairman of Government and Politics department will chair the function. A total of 30 articles on governance and non state actors will present at the programme. Around 50 teachers from different university and 250 students will participate in the seminar.
SRC robo-fight contest held at SUB
Chittagong: For the first time with the initiative of Southern University Bangladesh (SUB) inter-university ‘SRC Robo-fight competition 2016’ held on Thursday at SUB’s hall room.
In the daylong competition a total of 14 teams from six different universities took part in the competition. In the five phase competition, Robot ‘Murir Dibba’ and ‘Robot-Dew’ made by the teams of Leading University Sylhet won the first and second position respectively while North East University won third position for making ‘Robot-Durjoy’.
The programme was moderated by NM Istiak Chowdhury, teacher of Computer Science department of SUB while Sarwar Jahan, founder of SUB as chief guest. Dr Sharifuzzaman, pro-vice chancellor, Dr Montajul Islam Chowdhury, registrar of SUB, Israt Jahan, head, Department of Business Administration, Asif Iqbal, convener of the Competition and assistant professor, Department of Computer Science among others. Dr. Asif Iqbal, Rubel Kanti Das and Sakib Mahmud were judges in the competition.
English Day celebrated at ASAUB
The Department of English, ASA University Bangladesh (ASAUB) celebrated ‘English Day’ 2016 on Wednesday with great enthusiasm followed by a colourful cultural programme on ASAUB campus, says a press release. To celebrate its anniversary, the English Club of the department has organised English Day 2016, which include a prize-giving ceremony for the best artists and film makers of the Department and a farewell ceremony for the students of 13th , 14th , 15th , 16th , and 17th batches respectively. Md Shafiqual Haque Choudhury, chairman, Board of Trustees, ASAUB, was present as chief guest in the programme.
