Hearing on remand plea for Rony Wednesday
A Dhaka court has fixed Wednesday for hearing a petition field by the investigators seeking remand for Bakhtiar Alam Rony, son of ruling Awami League lawmaker Pinu Khan, in a case filed over the murder of two people at Eskaton in the capital on April 14.
Inspector Dipak Kumar Das of the Detective Branch, also the investigation officer of the case, filed the remand petition with the chief metropolitan magistrates (CMM) court yesterday.
Earlier, police grilled Rony on a four-day remand from June 9 to June 12.
On April 13 midnight, Rony reportedly opened fire on people indiscriminately near Janakantha Bhaban in Eskaton area from his car, leaving Abdul Hakim and the daily Janakanthas auto-rickshaw driver Yakub --injured with bullets.
They were rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where Hakim succumbed to injuries on April 15, while Yakub died on April 23.
On April 15, a case was filed with Ramna Police Station against some unidentified people in this connection.
