Transport workers called an indefinite transport strike in the district from today protesting the eviction of human hauler stand stands from the Court Point of the city by the Sylhet City Corporation. The decision was taken at a meeting of Sylhet District Transport Labour Association at its Dakkin Surma office of the city on Thursday. The association will go on a indefinite strike in the district protesting the eviction drive from 6am today and will continue the strike unless their demand is met. As the local administration failed to bring an end to the crisis, the association called the strike as per the suggestion of their members and leader, said Association president Selim Ahmed Falik. They will continue the strike until their demands are met, he added. Earlier on Wednesday afternoon, SCC evicted the illegal human hauler stand from the Court Point in city. During the drive, the SCC team vandalised two human haulers.
