A writ petition has been filed with the High Court seeking its directives on the authorities concerned to immediately submit the two autopsy reports of slain Comilla Victoria College student Sohagi Jahan Tonu to the court, reports UNB. Ain O Salish Kendra (ASK) filed the writ yesterday, also asking for the HC directive on the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to submit a progress report in connection with the murder.
The HC bench of Justice M Moinul Islam Chowdhury and Justice M Iqbal Kabir is likely to hear the writ this week.
Talking to reporters, ASK lawyer ZI Khan Panna said as the investigation officer of the case cannot submit the probe report to the court without any autopsy report, the writ was filed seeking HC directives for placing the autopsy reports.
It also sought directive for a statement of the Cantonment Board authority on the issue, he said.
UNB Comilla Correspondent adds: Head of the Forensic Department of Comilla Medical College Hospital Dr Kamoda Prosad Saha said they are yet to receive the DNA test report from the CID following the court order.
Earlier on Sunday, a Comilla court ordered the CID to provide the report of the DNA test it conducted on slain Sohagi Jahan Tonu’s body to the medical board formed for her 2nd autopsy.
On 17 May, the Criminal Investigation Department disclosed that it found evidence of rape on the body of the Comilla Victoria College student in its DNA test.
Earlier, doctors at the Forensic Department of Comilla Medical College Hospital in their first autopsy report did not find any sign of rape before the death of the college girl.
On 28 March, a local court ordered the exhumation of Tonu's body for fresh autopsy.
The court order follows 'discrepancies' in the investigation agencies' primary findings and what has been gleaned from her original autopsy.
Sohagi Jahan Tonu, a second year student of history and a member of Victoria College Theatre, was found dead in a bush beside a culvert inside the Comilla Cantonment on March 20.
