Kusum Sikdar performs on stage after 15 years

Before making a name for herself as a talented actress, Kusum Sikdar was known for being a talented singer. That fact was proved last Friday as Kusum Sikdar enthralled the audience with her enchanting voice at the ‘Symphony Channel i Music Award’ which was held in the capital’s Radisson hotel. On an interesting note, as she performed on stage, it was after a long 15 years that she did so. Despite the long break, it seemed that the artiste did not lose her touch as the audience in attendance were thrilled and mesmerised as she performed Nazrul Sangeet. She received immense praise for her performance. Regarding her performance on stage after a long 15 years, Kusum Sikdar said, “I was simply thrilled that the audience heavily appreciated my performance and praised me. But what was the highlight was when Faridur Reza Sagar, who was also greatly moved by the performance, requested me to perform 10 songs on the occasion of Kazi Nazrul Islam’s death anniversary. This was momentous and a great compliment. I was delighted and at the same time pleasantly astonished.  In addition, I would also like to express my gratitude to the audience in attendance who appreciated my performance.”
To note, Kususm Sikdar last performed on stage back in 2000. After that she became busy with acting and heavily involved herself in it. She has a solo album titled ‘Tumi Aj Kotodure’ and two mixed albums ‘Adol Bodol’ and ‘Jiboner Joto Chawa’ to her name. ‘Tumi Aj Kotodure’ was released in 2000 under the banner of Soundtek. As a child, she received musical training in Nazrul Academy. She received training in classical music from Ustad Phool Muhammad and training in Nazrul Sangeet from Ustad Murshed.  l
