‘Dewan Gazir Kissa’ to be held at BSA tomorrow

Nagorik Natya Sampradaya’s ‘Dewan Gazir Kissa’, directed by noted thespian, evergreen actor and Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor, will be staged tomorrow  at the Experimental Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, Segun Bagicha in the city. Asaduzzaman Noor adapted the play from a story by late German poet-playwright-theatre director Bertold Brecht. Versatile actress Runa Khan will play the prestigious role of Laily in the play ‘Dewan Gazir Kissa’. Produced by Nagorik Natya Sampradaya, noted actors Aly Zaker and Abul Hayat, among others, will play important roles in the play. ‘Dewan Gazir Kissa’ was staged for the first time in 1977, which returned to the stage after so many years through the fourth edition of ‘Ganga-Jamuna Theatre and Cultural Festival’ in 2015.
The word ‘prestigious’ has been applied to describe the role of Laily in ‘Dewan Gazir Kissa’ because of the fact that the bar has been set very high, as before Runa Khan, names such as Sara Zaker, Bipasha Hayat, Nima Rahman have played the role earlier.
