BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir yesterday said no plot against their party will work as it will go ahead together with people braving all obstacles following its founder’s ideology, reports UNB. “There’s a plot to remove our chairperson Khaleda Zia from politics and eliminate BNP by alienating the party leaders and activists from the party through implicating them in false cases,” he said. Talking to reporters after placing wreaths at Ziaur Rahman’s grave marking his 35th death anniversary, Fakhrul also said, “No conspiracy against BNP will be successful as BNP is used to work for people overcoming adverse situations. BNP had struggled in the past for establishing people’s rights and turned victorious.”
Earlier in the day, BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia paid homage to party founder Zia by placing a wreath at his grave, marking his 35th death anniversary, reports UNB. Khaleda Zia along with party leaders and activists placed the wreath at Zia's grave at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the capital around 11:30am and offered fateha there. She also joined a milad and doa mahfil there arranged by Jatiyatabadi Ulema Dal seeking salvation of the departed soul of her husband.

Leaders and activists of different units and associate bodies of the party also laid wreaths at Zia's grave on the occasion.
Later, Khaleda distributed cooked food among the destitute at T&T ground near Manik Miah Avenue.
BNP sources said she is also scheduled to distribute food in different areas in the city, including Mohammadpur Town Hall, Dhanmondi, Kalabagan, Azimpur, Lalbagh, Bangsal, near Judge Court, Nayabazar, in front of High Court Mazar, Bijoynagar, Nayapaltan central office, Shantinagar, Shahjahanpur, Motijheel and Banglamotor.
BNP and its associate organisations chalked out a 15-day programme to observe the death anniversary amid various programmes, including holding discussions, wearing black badges, publishing posters and supplements in newspapers and distributing food among the destitute. The party flag was hoisted at half-mast, while black flags hoisted at the party's Nayapaltan central office and all other party offices across the country at 6am. Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal arranged a photo exhibition on Ziaur Rahman at the Jatiya Press Club on the occasion. Ex-VC of Dhaka University Prof Emajuddin Ahmed inaugurated it. On this day, May 30, 1981, Zia was assassinated by a group of army officers at Chittagong Circuit House. He founded the Bangladesh Nationalist Party in 1978.
