DU to celebrate 95th anniversary July 1
The 95th founding anniversary of the country's premier Dhaka University called 'Dhaka University Day' will be celebrated on July 1.
In observance of the day, a preparatory meeting was held at the Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban on Sunday with Vice-Chancellor Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique in the chair.
A 28-member committee was formed with Treasurer Professor Kamal Uddin as convener to celebrate the day in a proper manner. The meeting decided that this year's theme of the day will be ‘Higher education to resist terrorism and militancy and to flourish humanity’. The university has undertaken day-long programme marking the anniversary on July 1 which will feature hoisting of university and hall flags in the morning, assemblage of teachers, students, officers and employees at the university Mall (popularly known as Mall Chattar) at 10 am to bring out procession on the campus at 10.30 am. A discussion will be held at Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) at 11 am. All classes and examinations will remain closed on the day. But offices will remain opened.
