Smooth supply of commodities during Ramadan stressed

KHULNA: Speakers in the district task force meeting yesterday underscored the need for smooth supply of essential commodities to keep their prices stable during the holy month of Ramadan, reports BSS.
They said the authorities and individuals concerned should play a vital role to prevent irrational and unethical price hike of essentials. The deputy Commissioner's Office organised the task force meeting at the conference room styled 'Market price control of essentials on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, which will start early next month.
The meeting discussed how the market could be kept free from all sorts of immoral trend of hiking the prices of essentials commodities during Ramadan through concerted efforts of all.
Chaired by the deputy commissioner of Khulna Nazmul Ahsan, the meeting was addressed, among others, by additional deputy commissioner Zahangir Hossain, leaders of business community MA
Kafi, Nazrul Islam, MA Matin Panna, Amirul Islam Alif leaders of civil society Mokbul Hossain Mintu and S M Zahid Hossain.
Representatives of Khulna City Corporation (KCC), Khulna
Metropolitan Police (KMP), RAB, BGB, TCB, BSTI, Marketting Office and Khulna Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), among others, attended the meeting.
The speakers stressed that each market should follow the city corporation-determined price list while selling essentials this Ramadan, they urged the businessmen to run their trade without any fear and anxiety side by side keeping themselves free from hording, adulteration, excessive profit and cheating consumers.
They said the government is pledge-bound to build a sound market management, especially during Ramadan, aiming at rendering quality services to the people and urged all to supplement the government efforts.
The business leaders also assured of all sort of cooperation towards the government endevours and called for taking stern action against the dishonest businessmen.
