Three RMG factories fined Tk 2.24 cr

A special taskforce of Dhaka Power Distribution Company (DPDC) yesterday unearthed  an incident of stealing of electricity by tempering meters in three garment factories in the capital and fined Tk 2.24 crore
The three garment factories were Nasrin Garments Ltd (Azim Tower), Nipun Private Ltd and Four Brothers Fashion located in Mohammadpur area. The garment factories belonged to the same owner.
Acting on a tip off, the taskforce conducted three different drives and found that the each of the three meters  of the factories was tempered to steal electricity. Even the owner of the factories used fake signatures of the officials of DPDC.
Chief of the taskforce Mohammad Munir Chowdhury fined the managing director of the factories Ali Azam Khan with Tk 2.24 crore and realised Tk 1.09 crore on the spot.
He said they got the evidence of stealing 9.37 lakh units of electricity.
 “These factories were stealing power for a long time. We have unearthed it by our modern technology. We have the technology to identify the power stealing,” he said. He also said that legal action would be taken against the responsible persons involved in power stealing.
