Mother, step father to die for killing son
RANGPUR: A court yesterday sentenced a woman and her second husband for murdering their minor son in Haran Hindu Para village under Mithapukur upazila in the district in 2011.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Abu Jafar Md Kamruzzaman of the Additional District and Sessions Judge Court-2 of Rangpur announced the verdict in presence of convicted step father Bipin Chandra, 40. Another convict Aduri Rani, 35, mother of the boy, has remained absconding.
According to prosecution, convicted Aduri Rani, mother of her only son Ananda Chandra Ullash, 5, divorced her husband Bikash Chandra few years back and again married Bipin Chandra of the same area.
Since then, son Ananda had been living with his grandmother Shova Rani in the nearby area and frequently came to visit his mother Aduri Rani.
Being annoyed with Ananda, his mother Aduri Rani and step father Bipin Chandra strangled Ananda to death after he came to visit his mother on April 11 in 2011.
Later, they buried the body packed in a sac inside their cow shed.
Later, police recovered the body and Sub-inspector of Mithapukur Thana Moslem Uddin filed a murder case against Aduri Rani and her second husband Bipin Chandra in this connection.
After investigation into the case, Mithapukur Thana police submitted charge-sheet before the court against the accused mother and step father.
After examining 15 witnesses and evidences, the court yesterday announced verdict. Additional Public Prosecutor of Rangpur Advocate Faruk Md Rezaul Karim appeared on behalf of the state while senior lawyer Advocate Rejaul Karim defended the accused side.
