Family members of Mir Kashem Ali, who has been sentenced to death by the International War Crimes Tribunal, met with him at Kashimpur Central Jail in Gazipur yesterday. They came to the jail around 12.30 pm, and stayed with the convicted war criminal for about half-an-hour, the jail authorities said. Mohammed Nashir Ahmed, the jailer of Kashimpur Central Jail Part-2, said that Mir Kashem Ali’s wife, Khandaker Ayesha Khatun, daughters Tahera Tasmin and Sumaiya Rabeya, his son barrister Mir Ahmed Bin Kashem, and daughter-in-law Sayeeda Tahmida, met the convicted Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami leader in a room inside the jail and talked with him for about 30 minutes from 1:45pm. They left the jail at 2.15 pm. Advocate Motiur Rahman Akanda, one of the lawyers of Mir Kashem Ali, said that though the court had upheld the death sentence to Mir Kashem Ali on March 8 this year, his legal team has not received the printed copy of the verdict yet.
