To showcase Bangladesh artists and promote the concept of affordable art, a two-day unique art exhibition titled ‘No Name, Just Talent’ was held at the official residence of the High Commissioner of Canada on Friday and Saturday.
With the intention of promoting young and unheralded, but talented artists and painters from the local community, the High Commission of Canada and the country’s prominent lifestyle brand YELLOW have jointly organised the ‘No Name, Just Talent’ art exhibition featuring painting, sculpture and mixed media work. This exhibition is a part of the Art Weekend jointly organised by the Embassies of Brazil, Denmark, Germany, Netherlands, Norway and Switzerland and the High Commission of Canada.
The name of the artists whose works were put on display are—Tariq Julfiker, Farhana Yasmin, Tania Sultana Bristy, Mohammad Eunus, ASM Mustafa Jamil Akbar, Azmeer Hossain, Md Harun Ar Rashid Tutul, Shulekha Chowdhury, Goswami Bishwajit, Tariqul Islam, Reman Biswas, Rajib Ahasen, Zillur Rashid Dollar, Ashim Halder Sagor, and Babla Seeth.
Benoit-Pierre Laramee, High Commissioner of Canada stated “Bangladesh remains a priority country for Canada’s development assistance. But Bangladesh is developing fast, and so Canadian support is increasingly focused on providing employment opportunities for the youth. Just as we do through vocational skills or nursing training, this exhibition is providing opportunities for young people to profit from their own talents and energy. It gives me great pleasure to partner with BEXIMCO and YELLOW to showcase the artistic talent in Bangladesh, and to try and make art more accessible and affordable to all Bangladeshis.”
Syed Naved Husain, Group Director and Chief Executive Officer of BEXIMCO said, “We are glad to be a part of organising such a progressive initiative where talented artists and painters from non-descript backgrounds and those who do not have access to famous Art Galleries and wealthy collectors of art will get the opportunity to showcase their art. I also wholeheartedly thank the High Commission of Canada for coming forward and support the cultural aspirations of the artist community of the country.”
“Yellow will provide them with premium space in their outlets with large footfall and a terrific opportunity to generate good revenue from their works”, he added.
