Footballers leave Dhaka for Dushanbe today

A 30-member Bangladesh National team is scheduled to leave Dhaka today (Sunday) for Dushanbe with high hopes to play their away playoff match in the Asian Cup Pre-qualifier against Tajikistan.
Bangladesh will play the away match on June 2 in Tajik capital Dushanbe when their home match will be held at the Bangabandhu National Staidum on June 7.
However, head coach Lodewijk De Kruif and the captain Mamunul Islam expressed their optimism to do good result in away ground, as they explained that they want to make at least a draw.
Kruif, in his address in the press conference said, “Last two weeks we have been working hard, trained hard and the team is in good shape. We are delighted to travel to Tajikistan.”
“We did work more in tactical areas with our training. I know in Tajikistan it would be different ball game and it would be very difficult math, so I am curious how the boys will do there.”
Meanwhile, Bangladesh and Tajikistan, both the sides failed to qualify straight in the Asian Cup as they were the lowest sides in their group in the World Cup qualifiers, while there was also a criteria to move directly into the Asian Cup qualifying round.
However, Kruif, the Dutch coach was very much ambitious replying to a query about his target in Dushanbe said, “It is difficult in away match, but I like to put my money on it (about to win his team), anything can be happen in football. The boys are dedicated, motivated and I am happy with my boys.”
Bangladesh in their World Cup qualifying match against Tajikistan could manage only a 1-1 draw at home despite leading by 1-0 up to 82nd minute but suffered a humiliating 0-5 defeat at away.
Kruif replying to a query said, “Of course it is in my head, we need to survive and accordingly we will play, I am happy to see everybody is ready to take the challenge.”
About the one off two new faces Syed Rashed Turzo, coach said, “I know that guy from BKSP, he has a good battling tendency, good mentality, what we need, working hard in any circumstances.”
Captain Mamunul, who returned to national team after an interval just echoed with the coach while he said, “We had hard training two times daily, players are motivated to do something. We will try not to receive any goal, though we have very bitter experience conceding five goals in last meet.”
Kazi Nabil, chairman of the national team committee, Sattayjit Das Rupu, team manager, Abu Nayeem Shohag general secretary of the BFF and Sanat Pushpa Kumara, general manager of the Lotto, national team’s jersey sponsors also spoke in the press meet.
