In a bid to provide encouragement to youngsters, spreading the activities of cricket at grass-root level, coupled with increasing the involvement of the guardian-school-community in cricket, Games Development of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) took a different initiative.
As a part of the initiative, BCB Games Development is going to arrange the 2016 cricket carnival of the young Tigers Under-12 across the country.
BCB and National Sports Council (NSC) jointly organised the carnival, which is scheduled to commence from June 13. An eight-day-long festival will be ended on June 20.
BCB Game Development meanwhile requested all the 64 District Sports Associations to take necessary preparations including adequate players (U-12) selection, formation of teams and define the suitable date for the part of the event at their respective district.
The organisers, however, start sending or will send cricket kids including T-shirt and cap and cash for other expenditure within a few days to the respective district sports association (DSA) to make the programme successful.
Minimum eight to maximum 15 including male and female will be selected at each district. Thereafter, a week-long basic training programme will be held with the participation of the selected players from U-12 Cricket Carnival at district level.
AEM Kawser, senior deputy national manager of BCB’s Games Development, admitted the matter and said that they have taken the initiative to sort out the potential and talented young players from the grass-root level of the country.
