Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader visited the BRTC Bus Depot at Nogopara area of Gazipur city Friday morning. He expressed his dissatisfaction as he did not find the manger of the depot at his desk during the visit. Later, the minister ordered the higher authority of BRTC to issue show cause notice against manager as he found several irregularities at the depot. During his visit, the minister found some illegal human hauler workshops near Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in Salna area and ordered to evict all the workshops. Obaidul Qauder said, “There are many mismanagement and disorders in our transport and road sector. It is not possible to change the situation overnight. We need to change our attitude. He said the authorities concerned would take public awareness programme and campaign in these regard. The minister said that the drives will continue against invalid vehicles and illegal workshops.
Defying the allegations raised by BNP leaders, Obaidul Quader said the government has not taken any decision to arrest Khaleda Zia. He said BNP leaders in different programmes claiming that the government is hatching conspiracy against Khaleda to arrest her but the government did not take any decision in this connection. Residential engineer of Roads and Highway department of Dhaka circle Sobuz Uddin Khan, executive engineer of Gazipur Roads and Highway Department AKM Nahin Reza, sub-divisional engineer Abul Khayer Mohammed Saddam Hossain and senior assistant superintendent of Gazipur traffic police Shakhawat Hosain were present during minister’s visit.
