Chief selector Faruque Ahmed said that he may step down from the BCB selection committee if the board passes the new national selection policy in the next board meeting.
Following the proposal of the BCB working committee meeting on Thursday, Faruque Ahmed at his residence in Mohammadpur said, “I think if the policy is passed by the board, many difficulties rose in selection process. Country’s uprising development of cricket will be obstructed. We’ll lose a good system of selection what we have been following for a long time.”
“And I won’t stay in the new selection committee if this policy is passed by the board. I may submit my resignation letter tomorrow or within few days,” Faruque told media.
BCB working committee in principle decided to make a proposal after a meeting on Thursday that they will make a complete revamp of the three-member national selection panel.
As per the decision, the new selection panel will consist of four selectors, the national team’s head coach and manager alongside the chairman of the BCB cricket operations committee. A senior board director will lead the new selection committee.The board meeting is scheduled to take place in the next week.
