20th Young Artist Fine Arts Exhibition underway at BSA

A fortnight-long fine arts exhibition titled 20th Young Artist Fine Arts Exhibition 2016 has begun at National Art Gallery of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA). Cultural Affairs Ministry Begum Akhtary Momtaz along with noted artist Rafiqun Nabi and Syed Jahangir inaugurated the exhibition and also distributed prizes among the winners. Priseded over by BSA Director General Liaquat Ali Lucky, Director of Fine Arts Department of BSA Utpal Kumar Das delivered the welcome speech at the event.
This year, artist Syed Tareq Rahman won Young Artist Fine Arts Award 2016 while Sanad Kumar Biswas received the best award in mixed media, Tanvir Jalal in oil painting and Mohammad Faqrul Islam Mazumder won the award in graphics for his woodcut work.
Four honourary award winners are Niyaz Uddin Ahmed, Zainul Abedin, Jublee Dewan and Akhinur Binte Ali.
Initially, a total of 464 Bangladeshi young artists submitted 1020 artworks in four categories painting, print, sculpture and installation. A selection committee, including artists Dr Mohammad Iqbal, artist Atiya Islam Anny and artist Nasimun Khobir Khabir primarily selected 227 artworks by 188 artists, which are being displayed in the exhibition.
The exhibition will remain open to all from 11am to 8pm till June 9 (3pm to 8pm on Friday), and from 11 am to 6pm on the Day of Ramadan. l
