Man to die for killing schoolgirl after rape

A court in Narsingdi sentenced a man to death on Thursday for killing a schoolgirl after rape.The convicted person is Kiron Mia, 25, of Kaitergaon village in Monohardi upazila of the district.
According to the prosecution story in brief, Rahima Akter, 11, was returning home from her school in the evening on January 19, 2015. When she reached near a banana orchard, Kiron, who was waiting there, obstructed her. The criminal took her into the banana orchard and raped her.Afterwards, he strangulated Rahima and fled from the scene.
Later, locals rescued the girl and sent her to Monohardi upazila hospital where attending doctors declared her dead.
On information, police rushed to the spot, recovered the body and sent it to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital morgue for post-mortem examination.
Rahima was a student of class IV of Kaitergaon Government Primary School in Monohardi upazila, said sources.
A case was filed with Monohardi police station in this connection.After investigation, police submitted charge sheet against Kiron. After examining witnesses and relevant papers Nari O Shishu Nirjatan Daman Tribunal Judge in Narsingdi Shameem Ahmed found him guilty and announced the punishment.
