Inter-varsity conference held at BRAC univ
The Department of English and Humanities, BRAC University organised a two-day inter-university conference for students and fresh graduates at the BRAC University auditorium recently, says a press release. New Directions in Literary Research, as the conference was called, exclusively focused on literature of both English and Bangla on three main streams: Modernism in Literature, Postmodernism in Literature and The Body in Literature.
The conference showcased high quality research papers of students and new graduates of different universities including BRAC University, North South University, ULAB, International Islamic University of Chittagong and East West University. Professor Dr Farhat Iftekharuddin, the Pro Vice Chancellor of BRAC University, opened the conference, while Professor Afsan Chowdhury of the Department of English and Humanities read the welcome note.
Int’l confce on business research begins at EWU
A two-day international conference on Business Research began at East West University (EWU) at Aftabnagar in the capital yesterday.
The Department of Business Administration of the university arranged the conference financially supported by World Banks Higher Education and Quality Enhancement Project (HEQEP). Chairperson of EWU Board of Trustees and former Governor of Bangladesh Bank Dr Mohammed Farashuddin inaugurated the programme as the chief guest, said a press release. Head of Accounting Department of La Trobe University, Australia, Professor Zahirul Hoque presented the keynote speaker.
Around 100 representatives from 31 from home and abroad are taking part in the conference. More than 60 research papers will be presented at the conference.
Prize giving ceremony held at BUFT
BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) organised a prize giving ceremony of the Book Reading Competition recently at the BUFT Auditorium. The programme was jointly organised by the British Council, Dhaka and the Department of English, BUFT, says a press release.
Syed Masud Husain, vice chancellor, BUFT was the chief guest in the programme.. Ayub Nabi Khan, Pro-Vice Chancellor and Sarwat Reza, Library Manager of British Council attended the programme as the special guests.
In total 120 students were awarded with certificates by the British Council. All heads of the academic & administrative departments, faculty members, officials and students were present in the event.
