Registered SIMs must for online college admission

Students seeking online and SMS admissions to government and non-government colleges, which will begin today, must use their biometrically verified SIMs for the purpose.
This was mentioned in the admission guidelines issued by the Bangladesh Inter-Education Board Coordination Sub-Committee yesterday.
Weve directed admission seekers to use biometrically registered SIMs. If the SIM is unregistered, there are chances that it may be blocked after May 31 as per a recent government directive, sub-committee chairman Md Mahbubur Rahman said.
If the mobile SIM is blocked, the student will suffer. The education board will not take responsibility for this. All functions will be carried out through mobile phones, he added.
As per the admission guidelines published on the respective education boards websites yesterday, the students have to use the state-run Teletalk mobile (pre-paid).
Rahman, who is also the chairman of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, said: The admission process for government and non-government colleges for the session 201617 will begin at 9am on May 26 and would continue till 11:59 pm on June 9.This year, students would be able to select a maximum of 10 colleges through online or mobile SMS. The choice was restricted to five colleges last year.
The online application fee is Tk. 150 for 10 colleges or equivalent institutions, and the students can apply for all of them at once through the online application process. The fees for applying to each college through SMS would be Tk. 120, and the students can apply for more than one college or equivalent institution.
As per the admission guidelines, the students should apply online at the www.xiclassadmission.gov.bd website or through Telelalk mobile SMS. The guidelines said that the merit list would be published in all the colleges chosen by the student.
The first merit list would be published on June 16 and the students would be able to enrol themselves from June 18 to June 30. Admission on payment of late fees will begin on July 10 and close on July 20.
The guidelines further mentioned that students who have applied for re-evaluation of their papers should also apply between May 26 and June 9 as per the minimum qualification of the educational institutions concerned. However, students whose results have been changed after re-evaluation of their papers would be able to apply to other institutions by June 9.
The results of the re-evaluation of papers will be published on June 8, board sources said. This year, the Dhaka Board has received 1.16 lakh applications for re-evaluation.
Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Inter-Education Board Coordination Sub-Committee has taken all the necessary steps for the smooth conduct of the online admission process.
The online admission process for colleges across the country had started last year. But there were major anomalies in the system, resulting in massive problems for students and guardians.
