Nepal U-17 team manager Sudeep Sharma tipped the friendly series with BKSP as encouraging for them, stating that they want to play more series with BCB age-level teams in future.
“We look forward to that. We’re in conversation with BKSP also. They’re very positive. We met director general of BKSP. He was very positive. Even he is interested to send their team in Nepal. This will be very good relation between Bangladesh and Nepal,” said Sudeep Sharma, who earlier toured Dhaka with Nepal U-19 during ICC U-19 World Cup.
“This time our team has come in Bangladesh and that BKSP team will tour Nepal this year. This is very good initiative. This will help to rich and make good relation between peoples of Bangladesh also,” Sharma told The Independent while the visiting U-17 Great Himalaya Cricket Academy team led by him came to visit Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium yesterday.
“We look forward to deal with BCB but we’re not still touch with the BCB authority. We’re interested to do that. Still we’re trying to get touch with BCB. In near future, we’ll get touch with them and try to play regularly with BCB U-17 or junior teams as well,” he added.
Praising the facilities and environment of Bangladesh cricket, Nepal team manager said that they are in the process of achieving development and for this they of course need some more times.
“They’re developing slowly but it’s not as in other South Asian neighbouring countries like Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka and Pakistan. The main challenges we have faced in domestic format of cricket. We’ve only two or three grounds inside Kathmandhu and that also are occupied in most of the time. We don’t get enough time to play matches. And that’s the biggest challenge,” Sudeep opined.
“Actually it’ll take time. We are in the process of doing that. It is growing slowly but still it is long way to go.”
Citing the names of Yogesh, Bishal and Roshan, the team manager said that they will do well if they could nurture them within a good environment
“There is batsman Yogesh Kumar Bhut, who is good hard-hitting batsman and opens for the team. Then I’ll talk about captain Bishal Babu Adhikari, who is also good all-rounder. He is technically sound batsman and does little bit off-spin bowls. Another is Roshan Adhikari, who comes from Western part of Nepal – the very remote part of the country, is a very good batsman,” he thinks.
“These young guys have very much potential. They’re improving day by day. They’re U-17 right now. These guys could be made of Nepal U-19 in future. And that’s why, we bring them to Bangladesh and play a friendly series with BKSP team so that they can learn the way, the techniques and match temperament from the quality team like BKSP. They’re in learning phase. If we could provide good environment they will do very well.”
The visiting side meanwhile lost the five-match friendly series 3-0. One match has been washed out due to rains. They will depart on May 26 before playing their fifth and last match of the series on May 25.
