Roanu victims passing hard time in Bhola

Normalcy is yet to return in cyclone Roanu affected areas of Bhola district where thousands of victims are living under the open sky for the last four days.
Many cyclone victims have been suffering for want of food and shelter in Bhola Sadar, Tajum Uddin and Monpura upazilas.
Sources said about one thousand houses were collapsed during Saturday’s storm in these three upazilas.
During a visit to Ilisha and Rajapur unions in Bhola sadar and Chandpur union in Tajum Uddin upazila this correspondent found that hundreds of Roanu victims are passing their days in open space as their houses were also collapsed during the cyclone.
Some victims of cyclone affected areas said they are not being able to reconstruct their houses due to want of money.
Low income victims are passing hard time due to shortage of drinking water and food.
According to sources, hundreds of families are marooned at Kalatolir char and Shakuchia villages in Monpura upazila as water of tidal surge entered the areas after flood protection embankment collapsed during the cyclone.
