The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) yesterday launched a fresh probe into the allegation of acquiring illegal wealth by former BNP MP Md Mosaddek Ali Falu.
The Commission at its regular meeting decided to conduct a probe against him and appointed its deputy director Md Jahangir Alam as inquiry officer in this regard, ACC public relations officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told UNB.
Earlier, the ACC received an allegation that Falu, then political secretary to former Prime Minister and BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, accumulated huge illegal wealth and swindled a huge amount of money from capital market through market manipulation.
Considering the allegations, the national anti-graft body initiated a probe against him, Pranab said.
In July 2007, the ACC filed a case against Falu with Motijheel Police Station for allegedly accumulating illegal wealth.
