Elections to nine municipalities today

Election Commission (EC) is prepared to hold polls in nine municipalities across the country today. A total of 27 mayoral candidates will contest the polls in the nine municipalities. Of them, 21 are nominated by various political parties while six are independent candidates. A total of 316 candidates will vie for councilor posts for general ward and those reserved for women.The election will begin at 8 am and continue till 4 pm without any break. Polling will take place in Raipura and Ghorashal municipalities in Narsingdi, Laxmipur Sadar, Koshba of Brahmanbaria, Noakhali Sadar and Senbagh of Noakhali, Chhagalnaiya of Feni, Teknaf of Cox’s Bazar and Ramgarh of Khagrachhari.
