PM flies to Japan tomorrow

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina leaves here for Japan tomorrow morning to attend the G7 Outreach Programme that begins at Ise-Shima, the holiest place in all of Japans thousands of shrines, on the same day, reports UNB. Bangladesh is giving high importance to the visit as Prime Minister is likely to have a number of meetings with G7 leaders on the sidelines of the Summit including meetings with her Japanese and British counterparts Shinzō Abe and David Cameron. Members of the G7, established to facilitate economic cooperation among the worlds largest industrial nations, are Canada, France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Japan, and the United States. British High Commissioner in Dhaka Alison Blake met Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali on Tuesday morning and confirmed the meeting between Prime Minister Hasina and David Cameron, said an official wishing not to be quoted. The meeting is likely to be held on May 27, the official added. Foreign Minister Ali will brief the media on Prime Ministers visit to Japan on Wednesday afternoon, said an official at the Foreign Ministry on Tuesday. The Prime Minister is scheduled to return home on May 30 after her four-day visit to Japan. Heads of state and government of Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Vietnam are also invited to the outreach meeting. Hasina also attended a similar event held in Italy in 2001. The Foreign Minister will also brief the press on Prime Ministers recently held visit to Sofia, Bulgaria where she participated in the Global Women Leadership Forum from May 18-20.
