Opener Tamim Iqbal made another giant leap to inscribe his name as country’s legendary cricketer as he reached the milestone of 6000 runs in the List A cricket as the first Bangladeshi player yesterday.
The feat came in the match against Gazi Group Cricketers at BKSP-3 ground during the course of his 55 runs in Abahani’s respectable 276 for six. He touched the milestone on 38 by hitting a boundary off spinner Saeed Anwar Junior.
The flamboyant opener took 187 matches and 186 innings to reach the feat in which he smashed eight centuries and 40 half-century with the average of 32.83. His most of the runs however came for Bangladesh national team; he scored 4713 runs in 153 matches, hitting six centuries and 32 half-centuries and averaged 31.63. His highest score is 154 against Zimbabwe and this is the only 150 runs knock for any Bangladeshi batsman in the ODI cricket.
As  far as batting is concerned, Tamim is currently holding all of the records like highest runs, highest individual score, highest boundaries and over-boundaries in all three format of the cricket for Bangladesh.
In the DPL, he however has been in runs even though his team Abahani is struggling to move into the super league. Although he scored 326 runs in eight matches with four half-centuries for Abahani in this season, it is touted as bad performance for Tamim  because he set such a high benchmark that everyone wants Tamim to hit at least two or three centuries. His highest score in this league so far 90 and three more time he reached 50 runs mark but couldn’t convert it to century.
On a day when Tamim reached 6000 runs landmark, Bangladesh Test captain Mushfiqur Rahim also could touch that feat. He needed 97 runs to do that but instead he was out with naught in Mohammedan’s match against Prime Bank Cricket Club yesterday. Shakib Al Hasan is in the third position with 5276 runs in List A cricket.
