Four police personals were closed on Monday for demanding bribe at Barisal regional passport office.
Abu Sayeed, assistant commissioner and spokesman of Barisal Metropolitan Police, acknowledging the fact said accused Sub Inspector AB Ujjal, Nayek Habibur Rahman, constables Imamul and Mustafa were closed to Barisal police line from their duty place at regional passport office on Monday noon.
Further action would be taken after investigation, Abu Sayeed said.
Sumana Sharmin Shaon, deputy director Barisal regional passport office, said the accused police personals demanded bribe from Lt Jawad Habib Chowdhury alluring him to do works for issuing machine readable passport soon.
Lt Jawad was assistant management engineer of MRP at Dhaka and came to visit Barisal office on Sunday.
Soon after entering Barisal passport office the accused police men offered him to do all work for issuing MRP speedily and smoothly without any trouble in lieu of bribe with the help of passport office assistant Mainul Islam. Later Lt Jawad informed the matter to passport officer and filed a written allegation.
The passport officer then forwarded the allegation to police officials for action.
