Benapole: The district Awami League has suspended 10 party men for preparing to contest the upcoming union parishad elections in six unions of Sharsha upazila of Jessore going against the party decision, reports UNB.
SM Mahmud Hasan Bipu, office secretary of the AL district unit, in a press release on Monday night said the decision was taken against the 10 as they started electioneering for the upcoming polls as ‘rebel candidates’ failing to get nomination from the party.
The dissenters suspended are: Abdul Khalek, president of Dihi union unit of AL and Hossain Ali, vice-president of the same unit, Shamsur Rahman, vice-president of Laxmanpur union unit of AL, Mafizur Rahman, secretary general, of Bahadurpur union, Hadiuzzaman, organizing secretary of Putkhali union, Altaf Hossain, relief and social welfare secretary of the Kayba union unit of AL, Shahidul Alam, vice president of the Ulashi union unit of AL, Abul Kalam, a leader of Nijampur union unit of Jubo League, Abdul Wahab, president of the same unit of AL, and Nazrul Islam, organising secretary of the same unit.
