Two children drown

Two children drowned in the River Padma at Bakherali in Chapainawabganj Sadar upazila yesterday. The deceased were identified as Ramzan, 5, son of Mozammel Hoque and his cousin Lipi, 7, daughter of Shamsul Hoque, both of the aforesaid area. Police and local sources said as the two cousins went to bathe in the river, the strong current washed them away at around 11-45 am. Later, the dead bodies were recovered by their relatives in the afternoon, confirmed Mazharul Islam, officer-in-charge of Sadar police station.
