Certificate on Liberation War research training course distributed
The certificate distribution ceremony on Liberation War Research Training Course was held on Sunday at Sirajul Islam Lecture Hall of Dhaka University (DU) in the capital.
DU Vice-chancellor Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique distributed the certificates among the students as the chief guest, said a press release.
Centre for Bangladesh Liberation War Research of DU organised the two-day training course. Director of the Liberation War Research centre Professor Dr Ashfaq Hossain conducted the function. Prof Arefin Siddique said Liberation War is a very special event in the history of Bangladesh and called upon the centre to organise programmes like this often.
A total of 45 teachers, researchers and students took part the course.
UGC chairman for maintaining govt & UGC rules
Chairman of the University Grants Commission Professor Abdul Mannan on Sunday urged the Public university authorities to strictly maintain the government financial and administrative rules and UGC guidelines in running their universities.
“UGC will show zero tolerance if any university makes irregularities and other malpractices in running their universities”, he observed.
Abdul Mannan made the observation while presiding over a view exchange meeting with Vice-chancellors, Pro Vice-chancellors, Treasurers, Registrars and other high officials of 37 public universities on Sunday at UGC auditorium. UGC Members Professor Dr Dil Afroza Begum, Professor Dr M Akhtar Hossain, Professor Dr M Shah Nowaz Ali were present at the meeting.
Mannan called upon all concerned to properly prepare and implement the development projects in time.
He, at the same time urged them to take help from UGC if any complication arises. Vice-chancellors urged the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh to formulate uniform recruitment rules and financial guidelines for public universities so that they don’t have to violate the Government and UGC rules and regulations.
DU to celebrate Nazrul’s birth anniversary
Dhaka University (DU) authority has taken elaborate programmes to celebrate the 117th birth anniversary of the National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam tomorrow.
To mark the anniversary, teachers, students, officials and employees led by Vice-chancellor Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique will gather at Aparajeyo Bangla at 6.15 am and parade towards the Mazar of Nazrul with colorful procession, said a release in the capital yesterday.
Later, Prof Arefin Siddique will place wreaths the Mazar of Nazrul on behalf of the university. A memorial meeting will also be held at the mazar premises, it said.
On the occasion, DU Nazrul Research Centre will organise a discussion at RC Majumdar Arts Auditorium on the campus at 4pm.
Global confce on business and economics held at IUB
The Centre for Business Policy Research (CBPR) of the School of Business of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB), organised a daylong International Conference on contemporary global economic issues. The Conference was held on Saturday on IUB campus in Bashundhara, Dhaka with the theme “Policy Implications for Sustainable Growth of Emerging Economics’.
During the inaugural session of the Conference, Dr Toufic Ahmad Choudhury, Director General, Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management presented the Keynote Paper.
