Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed yesterday urged the Saudi investors to reap benefit out of investment-friendly settings provided by the present government of Bangladesh, reports BSS.
"Bangladesh government is providing special benefits to the investors. The foreign investors can make hundred percent investments and also can withdraw their capital and profit in whole. If Saudi investors make investment in Bangladesh, they will get more benefit and both Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia will also enjoy the fruits of it," he said.
The minister came up with the observations while addressing a views exchange meeting with the Saudi business delegation, led by Dr Abdul Rahman Al Jamil, chairman of Saudi Chamber of Council in Riyadh.
"There is huge demand of Bangladeshi home textile, teri towel, jute and leather goods, ceramics, frozen fish, halal meat, vegetables and dry food in Saudi Arabia and Bangladesh government has sought duty-free access to these goods. Bangladesh has exported goods worth of US$ 186.32 million to Saudi Arabia and imported goods worth of $ 828 million in the same period," Tofail added.
Lauding the investment-friendly policy of the present Bangladesh government, Saudi business leaders said they are very keen to make their investment in Bangladesh.
Vice-chairman of Bangladesh Export Promotion Bureau Mafruha Sultana and additional secretary (export) of Ministry of Commerce Jahir Uddin Ahmed were present on the occasion, among others.
