Bangladesh has urged Qatar to invest in its energy sector and extend the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with the Gulf nation to import LNG (liquefied natural gas), reports UNB.
Bangladesh’s State Minister for Power and Energy Nasrul Hamid made the call when he met Qatar’s Minister for Energy and Industries Dr Mohammed Bin Saleh Al-Sada at his office in Doha on Sunday, said a handout yesterday.
Nasrul Hamid is now in Doha on a visit to attend ‘16th Doha Forum’ scheduled for May 21-23 in Qatar’s capital.
According to a message received here, Nasrul Hamid and Al-Sada the ministers discussed a wide range of bilateral issues of the two nations during their meeting.
Nasrul briefed the Qatari minister about the developments taking place in Bangladesh under Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s leadership.
Laying emphasis on Qatar’s investment in Bangladesh’s energy sector, the state minister said a very congenial environment has been prevailing in the country.
He also discussed about the potentials of g-to-g basis investment in Bangladesh and extension of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with Qatar to import LNG (liquefied natural gas).
Appreciating Bangladesh’s economic development, the Qatari minister informed that Qatar stands ready to extend any kind of cooperation to Bangladesh’s energy sector.
