All set to tackle cyclone Roanu aftermath, says Minister

More than one lakh volunteers have been kept prepared in 14 costal districts to save lives and property from the fallout of cyclonic storm 'Roanu', Disaster Management and Relief Minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya said yesterday, reports UNB.
“There are 55,000 volunteers from the cyclone preparedness committees. Besides, volunteers from Red Crescents Society, Rover Scout and Ansar force remained ready. So, over one lakh volunteers are ready to face the disaster,” he said while addressing a briefing at Disasters Management Department in the city.
The minister said the government took all-out preparations to minimize the damage caused by the cyclone. Five lakh people were taken to the Cyclone Shelter Centres in the coastal areas and they were provided with dry food.
