Seven female muggers handed over to police
Gazipur: Locals caught red handed seven female hijackers while muggers away a necklace from a woman at Rajendrapur intersection in Gazipur on Friday and handed over them to the police.
Police and locals said the seven hijackers in guise of passengers boarded a Chandana Chowrasta bound human hauler, locally called Leguna, at Rajendrapur intersection.
As the vehicle coming from Kapasia left Rajendrapur, the hijackers muggers away a gold necklace from one woman passenger. Hearing hue and cry of the passenger the locals intercepted the human hauler and caught all the seven women muggers with gold chain.
Later, the muggers were handed over to the police with the necklace.
The female muggers are Ayesha Akhtar, 40, Jahanara Akhtar Jahnu, 23, Sumi Akhtar, 25, Kulsum, 20, Shilpi, 20, Taslima Begum, 40, and Nasima Begum, 45, police said.
SI Nazmul Islam of Hotapara Police outpost under Joydevpur police station said the muggers confessed to the mugging of gold chain from the woman passenger.
