Boosting humanitarian works needed for mankind well-being

RAJSHAHI: Highlighting the aspects humanitarian works speakers at a discussion in Rajshahi yesterday unequivocally called for boosting it to improve the living and livelihood condition of the society’s disadvantaged and underprivileged population, reports BSS.
Terming them as integral part of the society they observed that there should have social and political initiatives for mainstreaming them. Richer-class and affluent persons should extend their cooperation to this end.
They stressed on the need for revival of the traditional practice of philanthropy for well-being of mankind.
They made this observation while distributing cash and kinds among some poor and distressed people for their welfare.
Manab Seba Ovijan (MSO), a voluntary socio-economic development organisation, organised the programme at Shilpakala Academy auditorium.
On the occasion, grants and other financial supports worth around Taka 9.14 lakh and eight sewing machines were distributed among 175 people including disabled and poor but meritorious students.
Deputy Commissioner Kazi Ashraf Uddin and Chief Engineer of Rajshahi City Corporation Ashraful Haque addressed the meeting as chief and special guests respectively with Professor Dr Shafiqunnabi Samadi, President of MSO, in the chair.
MSO Chief Executive Khairul Alam, General Secretary Ariful Haque Kumar, former chairman of Rajshahi Education Board Prof Shirin Sufiya Khanom, retired college principal Prof Dr Farida Sultana, retired assistant director of Department of Social Service Joytuna Khatun and Ward Councilor of Rajshahi City Corporation Md Kamruzzaman also spoke.
The discussants mentioned that concerted efforts are very important for overall development of the society as the country as well.
