Trader fined for using chemical to ripen mangoes

NATORE: A mobile court fined a mango trader Taka one lakh for using a harmful chemical to ripen 250kgs of mangoes in Baghatipara upazila of the district yesterday, reports BSS.
Mango trader Sahabuddin, resident of Bagha Rajshahi, was using chemical to ripen immature Langra mangoes at a mango orchard of the area.
Being informed, UNO Khandaker Farhed with police rushed to the spot and caught Sahabuddin red-handed.
Later, UNO and executive magistrate Khandaker Farhed arranged trial of the man by the mobile court and fined him Taka one lakh, in default to suffer three months in jail.
