Country to be digital with youth’s innovation: Nasrul

State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid yesterday said Digital Bangladesh would be materialised through promoting the young generation's innovative ideas, reports BSS.
"Our 50 per cent population is under 25 years, so the country's future would be built by using the young people's innovation as well as their innovative activities," he said while speaking at a roundtable discussion at Bijoy Hall, Bidyut Bhaban in the capital.
Bangladesh Energy and Power Research Council (BEPRC) and Engineering Students' Association of Bangladesh (ESAB) jointly organised the roundtable on "Industry, Academia and Government of Bangladesh Collaboration for Nurturing Young Engineers' Innovation Unlocking the untapped Potential of Power and Energy Sector of Bangladesh."
ESAB founder M Arif Raihan Maahi presented a paper highlighting its five-year journey, while students, teachers and representative from various stakeholders joined the open discussion suggesting how to use young people's innovative ideas for building Bangladesh as a developed country.
The state minister said the government created scope for students to take part in internship programme in the power and energy sector aimed at making their experts for the future.
He said the government needs professional and experienced people to maintain and continue the ongoing development activities in the future.
To involve in the development process, Power Club or Power and Energy Club would be formed at every university, which would put innovative idea for further progress of the sector, Nasrul added.
"The government has a plan to arrange overseas training programme for the youth forces based on their potentiality. An action plan would be prepared to involve ESAB as well as young people," the state minister said.
Director General of Power Cell Engineer Mohammad Hossain said the government created space for students' internship in power sector to make them skilled.
Dr Kaikaus said the BEPRC would sign a memorandum of understating with the ESAB for next course of activities.
Later, students raised their voice to set up innovation lab for creating need based new ideas to compete with developed countries.
