GAZIPUR: A fire broke out in a textile mill at Bashan Sarak Bazar in the city on Monday night, reports UNB.
Assistant director of Gazipur Fire Service & Civil Defence Akhteruzzaman Liton told UNB that the fire broke out in the factory of Alema Textiles Limited on the sixth floor of the eight-storey building around 11:30pm.
On information, eight fire-fighting units from Joydebpur, Tongi and Uttara rushed in and doused the flame after two hours of frantic efforts around 1.00am.
No causalities were reported in the incident. The reason behind the fire could not be ascertained immediately.
Another reports adds: A fire broke out at a building of Jagannath University (JnU) on Tuesday morning.
The fire originated from a cigarette butt in a pile of waste papers beside a toilet on the sixth floor of the seven-storey building around 8.00 am, said duty officer of the fire service control room Ataur Rahman. Informed, two firefighting units rushed to the spot and doused the flame.
