7 face arrest warrants in Sylhet

SYLHET: A court here has issued warrants for the arrest of seven people, including the chairman and the managing director of a private clinic, in a case filed over the death of a child for alleged negligence at the clinic, reports UNB.
The accused are Dr MA Matin, child specialist and chairman of Ma-Moni Clinic in Kumarpara area of the city, its MD Dr Azir Uddin Ahmed, executive director Dr Modabbir Hossain, directors Syed Mohammad Khasru, Mujibul Haq and Dr Shafiqur Rahman, and manager Jamal Ahmed. Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Saifuzzaman Hero issued the arrest warrants on May 12. However, the matter came to light on Tuesday.
On November 11, 2013, Habib Ahmed, son of Samsul Haq of Baurbhag East village in Kanaighat upazila, filed a case against them in connection with the death of a three-month-old baby while undergoing treatment at the clinic.
According to the case statement, Afnan, nephew of Habib Ahmed, was admitted to the clinic on October 28, 2013 with fever.
After medical test, the authorities concerned said the boy was affected with pneumonia.
Noting that the condition of the bay was critical, doctors pushed a wrong injection and he died immediately, the family members alleged. On March, 5, 2015, police submitted charge sheet before the court.
