KHULNA: Workers of State run Crescent Jute Mill began production postponing their agitation programme from Saturday morning after getting assurance from former state Minister for Labour and Employment Begum Monnuzan Sufian, MP, reports BSS.
"We joined work around 11-30am after law maker of Khulna-3 constituency Begum Monnuzan Sufian assured us that she will try to reinstate general secretary of Crescent Jute Mill CBA Md. Sohrab Hossain," said Deen Islam, President of CBA of the Mill.
He also said, a meeting will be held tonight on the matter between CBA and non CBA leaders and lawmaker Begum Sufian. Earlier, workers of the state run Crescent Jute Mills in Khulna protested termination of Md Sohrab Hossain, convener of CBA and non CBA Oikkya Parishad of state owned seven jute mills on Thursday morning.
The Crescent Jute Mill authority terminated Sohrab Hossain on Wednesday night on charge of violating labour law and disobeying order of the authority.
Sohrab Hossain, also general secretary of Crescent Mill CBA and works as a 'Line Sarder (Leader) of the Hosiery Department of the Mill.
