With the aim of flourishing the country’s culture to the root level, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA), with the support of Cultural Ministry, has arranged a primary school-level cultural competition across the country. About two lac and sixty five thousand students from thirty five thousand schools of 64 districts participated in the competition in 11 categories, such as Loko Sangeet, Rabinra Sangeet, Nazrul Sangeet, Liberation War-based songs, patriotic songs, recitation, general dance, classical dance on Bharat Natyam/ Kuthak/ Monipuri/ Odishi, and solo and group dramatic performance. After the competition, the first three winners from each category were awarded with certificate, crest, CD and book based on the life of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at BSA recently.
As a part the ongoing competition, BSA has organised a two-day national-level competition from 9am to 4pm at the academy’s Music and Dance Centre, National Art Plaza and Experimental Hall. A total number of 1560 contestants, who secured first and second position in all categories, will attend the competition today and tomorrow.
Besides, to entertain the contestants, acrobatic shows will be held every day at the academy’s Nandan Mancha from 9am to 4pm, as well as a cultural programme presented by contestants at 6pm, and acrobatic show by acrobatic troupe of BSA will also be held at the national theatre Hall.
BSA has also planned to organise an award ceremony for the winners of national level, where prime minister will hand over the crest to the winners. To disclose the above information, a press conference was held yesterday at the Seminar Room of National Art Plaza, where BSA Director General Liaquat Ali Lucky, director of Production Department Iqbal Hossain, director of Fine Arts Department Utpal Kumar Das, Shawkat Faruk from Training Department and programme director Sohrab Uddin, among others, were present.
