Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) has lifted the ban on national footballers Mamunul Islam and Sohel Rana yesterday.
The decision was taken at an emergency meeting of the National Team Committee (NTC) at the BFF Bhaban. BFF senior vice-president Abdus Salam Murshedi presided over the meeting in absence of the chairman of the NTC Kazi Nabil Ahmed.
Mamun and Sohel were suspended for different terms from international football for their undisciplined gesture during the Bangababandhu Gold Cup Football Tournament.
Salam while talking to the reporters said, “If any player offered mercy petition admitting their wrong doing, in this respect we can let off them from their punishment. According to the decision, we have withdrawn the ban on Mamunul and Sohel Rana. Now if coach thinks that these players deserve to have calls proving their fitness level up to the mark, they will be included.”
Replying to a query Salam said, “Actually, we have crisis of quality players, so we think if they added to the squad then the strength of the team would be enhanced. We will not do anything which will go against the interest of our football.”
