While Mohammedan retained its top position, beating the archrivals Abahani Limited, Victoria Sporting Club and Legends of Rupganj moved to the second spot jointly by winning their respective match of the Dhaka Premier League yesterday. Both of the teams have nine points after six but Victoria remained in second position by better run-rate.
Victoria secured a nine-run victory over defending champions Prime Bank Cricket Club by D/L method at BKSP. On the other hand, Rupganj sealed a comfortable six-wicket win over Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium.
Suhrawardi Shuvo’s maiden List A ton helped Victoria prevail over Prime Bank who threw a stiff challenge by amassing 274 for seven. Shuvo however scored an unbeaten 105 as Victoria amassed 211 for two in 42.1 overs before the rain halted the game. As per the D/L sheet, Victoria were ahead of nine runs by then. Prime Bank rode on opener Mehedi Maruf’s 63 off 70 in which he hit nine fours and two sixes.
Skipper Mosharraf Hossain Rubel led the side from the front to help Rupganj seal the deal with ease. Rubel scalped one wicket before he struck 81 to shape Rupganj’s facile victory.
Sri Lankan recruit Chamara Silva smashed a fluent 89 off 76 but Prime Doleshwar still was bowled out for below par 216 in 48.2 overs. Abu Haider Rony and Nahidul Islam took two wickets for Rupganj which reached the winning target with 222 for four in 46.2 overs.
